The University of Aizu was established in 1993 as the first Japanese university with positions open to world-class faculty. It has attracted researchers and educators from 16 countries around the world. The University of Aizu is located in Aizu-Wakamatsu City, an old castle town of the Edo period . You can enjoy mountain Bandai and Lake Inawashiro and visit many historical sites. The area is famous for ski resorts, onsen (hot springs) and sake (Japanese rice wine).
